My Southern grandma handed down this sticky bun recipe, and it is been a circle of relatives favored since!

 


Ingredients:

For dough:

One cup of milk warmed to approximately 95°F.

2/3 cup of granulated sugar.

2 packets of instant yeast.

1/2 cup (equivalent to 1 stick) of unsalted butter, softened and cut into pieces.

Two large eggs.

Half a teaspoon of salt.

4 to 4 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, with additional for dusting.

For filling:

1/4 cup of softened unsalted butter.

Half a cup of firmly packed dark brown sugar.

2 tsp of ground cinnamon.

For topping:

3/four cups of firmly packed mild brown sugar.

1/4 cup of unsalted butter.

1/4 cup of honey or maple syrup.

1 1/2 cups of chopped pecans.

Directions:

Dough:

Step 1

Mix milk, sugar, and yeast until foamy.

Step 2

Add butter, eggs, salt, and flour to make dough. Let it rise.

Topping:

Step 1

Melt brown sugar, butter, and honey. Pour into a pan, add pecans.

Assembly:

Step 1

Roll out dough, brush with butter, sprinkle sugar-cinnamon, roll, and slice into buns.

Step 2

Place buns on topping, and let rise.

Baking:

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake buns until golden (20-25 mins).

Step 2

Cool briefly, then invert onto a platter. Serve warm and enjoy!

- Ensure yeast foams for active dough rising.

- Knead dough to a slightly sticky, elastic texture.
