Traditional Irish Beef Stew

 



INSTRUCTIONS:

  • 1st Step – In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the stewing beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
  • 2nd Step – In the same pot, add the chopped onions and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  • 3rd Step – Return the browned beef to the pot, along with any accumulated juices. Sprinkle the flour over the beef and vegetables, stirring to coat evenly.
  • 4th Step – Add the beef broth, Guinness stout (if using), tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaves to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  • 5th Step – Bring the stew to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the flavors have melded together.

  • 7th Step – Season the stew with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the bay leaves before serving.
  • 8th Step – Ladle the Traditional Irish Beef Stew into bowls and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve the stew piping hot, accompanied by crusty bread or buttery mashed potatoes for a truly comforting meal.
