Crispy Fried Mushrooms with Cool Ranch Dip Recipe

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dip

In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk (if using), dried parsley, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Mix until smooth and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Step 2: Prep the Breading Station

Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, another with beaten eggs and milk, and the third with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3: Coat the Mushrooms

Dredge each mushroom in the flour, then dip it into the egg mixture, and finally coat it evenly in the breadcrumb mixture. Set aside on a plate.

Step 4: Fry the Mushrooms

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the mushrooms in batches, ensuring they don’t overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

Serve the crispy fried mushrooms hot with the cool ranch dip on the side for dipping. Enjoy this crunchy, flavorful snack!

Tips for the Best Fried Mushrooms

  • Use fresh mushrooms: Avoid soggy or overly soft mushrooms to get the best texture.

  • Double coat for extra crunch: If you love an extra crispy bite, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating step.

  • Maintain oil temperature: Keeping the oil at a steady 350°F ensures even frying and prevents greasiness.

  • Experiment with seasonings: Add a little cayenne pepper for heat or Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumb mixture for extra flavor
