🍫 Homemade Chocolate Caramel Bites — Better Than Store-Bought Candy

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel

    • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar, stirring constantly until it becomes a golden amber liquid.

    • Add the butter in pieces, stirring until fully incorporated.

    • Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring. Cook for 1–2 minutes until smooth and slightly thickened.

    • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Let cool slightly.

  2. Pour and set the caramel

    • Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.

    • Pour the caramel into the dish and smooth the top. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, until firm.

  3. Prepare the chocolate coating

    • Melt chocolate and coconut oil/butter in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (double boiler) or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring frequently until smooth.

  4. Cut and coat the caramel

    • Remove caramel from the dish and cut into bite-sized squares.

    • Dip each square into the melted chocolate, coating completely. Place on parchment-lined tray.

  5. Optional toppings

    • Sprinkle with sea salt, chopped nuts, or sprinkles while the chocolate is still soft.

  6. Set and enjoy

    • Refrigerate until the chocolate is firm, about 30 minutes. Store in an airtight container. Enjoy your irresistible homemade candy!
