Crinkle Cake (Crispy, Creamy Phyllo Dessert)

 


Instructions

1. Prepare the Phyllo

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease a baking dish.

  • Take each sheet of phyllo and crinkle it by scrunching it lightly with your hands.

  • Arrange all crinkled sheets in the dish.

2. Add the Butter

  • Pour the melted butter evenly over the crinkled phyllo.

  • Bake for 10 minutes, then rotate and bake another 10 minutes until lightly golden.

3. Make the Custard

  • Whisk together milk, cream, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.

4. Add Custard & Bake Again

  • Slowly pour the custard mixture over the hot phyllo.

  • Return to oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden and set.

5. Make the Syrup

  • In a saucepan, heat sugar + water until boiling.

  • Simmer 5 minutes, add lemon juice, then cool.

6. Add the Syrup 

  • Pour the cooled syrup over the hot crinkle cake.

  • Let it soak for at least 15–20 minutes before serving.
