Cheesy Taco Crescent Pie
Instructions
Prep the Meat: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no pink remains. Drain the excess fat.
Season: Add the taco seasoning and water to the beef. Let it simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce has thickened and the meat is well-coated. Remove from the heat.
Assemble the Crust: Open the tube of crescent roll dough. Separate the triangles and arrange them in a pie dish or round baking pan with the wide bases along the edges of the pan and the points overlapping slightly in the center. Gently press the edges down to form a border.
Fill and Bake: Spoon the taco-seasoned beef into the center of the dough ring. Bake for 15 minutes.
The Cheesy Finish: Carefully remove the pie from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the beef. Return to the oven for another 5–10 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
Serve: Let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Top with your favorite taco garnishes and serve immediately.
Pro-Tips for Success
Crispy Bottoms: To ensure the bottom of your crust isn't soggy, make sure your ground beef mixture isn't too runny before adding it to the pie dish.
Add a Crunch: If you love texture, crush a handful of tortilla chips and sprinkle them over the cheese during the final 2 minutes of baking.
Serving Style: This pie is fantastic when served with a side of zesty salsa or a dollop of guacamole, adding a fresh, cool contrast to the warm, savory pastry.
A Note on Leftovers: This pie reheats beautifully in the oven or toaster oven, which helps keep the crust crispy. It’s a perfect "make-ahead" meal for busy weekdays!
