The Method
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or a little butter.
2-Build the Liquid Gold Base
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the cottage cheese, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, and onion powder until fully combined and uniform.
Add the shredded chicken to the creamy mixture. Toss well until every piece of chicken is thoroughly coated. Season to taste with salt and pepper, then spread the mixture evenly into your prepared baking dish.
4-Create the Crispy Topping
In a separate small bowl, toss the crushed Ritz crackers with the melted butter until the crumbs look like wet sand. Sprinkle this mixture in an even layer over the top of the chicken base.
5-Bake to Golden Perfection
Bake uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes. You'll know it's ready when the edges are bubbling vigorously and the cracker crust has turned a deep, beautiful golden brown. Let it cool for 5 minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
Make-Ahead Tip: You can easily assemble the chicken filling and layer it into the baking dish up to 24 hours in advance. Cover and refrigerate, but hold off on adding the cracker topping until right before it goes into the oven to ensure it stays perfectly crisp. If baking straight from the fridge, you may need to add an extra 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time.
