15-Year-Old Figure Skating Star Dies after she was struck by …

A Rising Star Cut Short

Matilda Ferrari was widely recognized as one of the brightest young prospects in Italian figure skating. Training with the Sporting Ghiaccio Art Pinzolo club, she had recently displayed incredible resilience by fighting her way back from a severe knee injury to resume her competitive career.

Her dedication had already begun yielding impressive results on the national stage:

  • She recently won the bronze medal at the 2024–2025 Coppa Italia Final, skating a flawless program.

  • She was a proud member of her club's synchronized skating team, "Team Ice Secret".

  • She frequently performed for local fans in the popular "Pinzolo on Ice" winter shows alongside international guest skaters.

The International Skating Union (ISU) expressed its deepest condolences to her family and the Italian skating community, noting that Matilda possessed a deep passion for the sport and openly dreamed of one day representing her country at the Olympic Winter Games.

Remembering Matilda

Beyond her undeniable talent on the ice, Matilda was remembered by her coaches and peers as a determined, vibrant, and affectionately mischievous presence who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. As an older sister and a dedicated athlete, she served as a profound role model for the younger skaters at her rink.

In a moving tribute posted to social media, her home club expressed the immense weight of the loss, writing: "We can't imagine not seeing you on the ice with us every day."
