Breaking the habit doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice convenience. To keep your kitchen sanitary and your appliances running smoothly, try shifting to these smarter storage solutions:

• Adhesive or Magnetic Hooks: Place a couple of sleek, heavy-duty magnetic hooks on the side of your refrigerator or the end of a cabinet run, safely away from cooking splatters and vents.

• Under-Sink Pull-Out Racks: Install a slide-out towel bar inside the cabinet door beneath your sink. It keeps the towels completely out of sight but entirely accessible.

• An Over-the-Cabinet Bar: A small, padded metal bar that slips over a standard cabinet drawer or door puts the towel right next to your prep space without blocking an appliance vent.

The Golden Rule of Kitchen Linens: No matter where you choose to hang your tea towels, remember to swap them out for a fresh, clean pair every 24 to 48 hours—especially if you have been handling raw proteins or heavy grease.
