Vibrant Purple Ginger drink: Wellness Elixir

How to Make It Step-by-Step

1. Infuse the Base

  1. Chop 1 to 2 cups of fresh red cabbage into coarse pieces.

  2. Slice a 2-inch piece of fresh ginger into thin rounds.

  3. In a large heat-safe pot or jar, combine the chopped cabbage, ginger slices, and 1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries.

  4. Pour 6 to 8 cups of boiling water over the ingredients. Cover loosely and let it simmer on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes so the water absorbs the vibrant color and flavor.

2. Strain & Cool

  1. Set a fine-mesh strainer over a large bowl or pitcher.

  2. Carefully strain the liquid, pressing gently on the solids with a spoon to extract all the colorful juice. Discard or compost the spent cabbage and fruit solids.

  3. Allow the deep purple liquid to cool to room temperature.

3. Brighten & Bottle

  1. Stir in 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juiceWatch the magic happen: the acidity from the lemon lowers the pH, shifting the deep blue-purple hue into a brilliant, glowing violet-magenta!

  2. Sweeten with 2 to 3 tablespoons of raw honey or maple syrup to taste, stirring until fully dissolved.

  3. Funnel the tonic into clean glass bottles or jars, seal tightly, and chill in the refrigerator.

Serving Suggestion: Pour over ice, garnish with fresh lemon slices and a sprig of mint, and enjoy as a refreshing mid-afternoon pick-me-up or a morning wellness shot
