The music world mourns the loss of legendary singer, songwriter, and pianist Neil Sedaka, who passed away at the age of 86 (1939–2026). From his early days at the famous Brill Building in New York to topping the global pop charts, Sedaka’s classical background and incredible gift for melody defined generations of American popular music.

A Master of Pop Craftsmanship

Born in Brooklyn in 1939, Sedaka was a Juilliard-trained pianist whose keen sense for arrangement allowed him to transition seamlessly from classical music to early rock and roll. Alongside longtime songwriting partner Howard Greenfield, he penned timeless teen anthems that soundtracked the late 1950s and 1960s.
