Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms

Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms

Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms are the kind of appetizer that disappears almost as soon as it hits the table. Tender mushroom caps are filled with a rich, creamy mixture of cream cheese, garlic, herbs, and savory seasonings, then baked until the mushrooms are juicy and the filling is beautifully golden on top.

They are simple enough for a casual family dinner but elegant enough for a holiday gathering, dinner party, or game-day spread. The best part is that they require only a handful of ingredients and can be prepared ahead of time, making them an especially convenient appetizer when you're entertaining.

Why You'll Love These Stuffed Mushrooms

These mushrooms have a wonderful contrast of textures. The mushrooms become tender and juicy as they bake, while the cream cheese filling stays rich and creamy with a lightly browned top.

The filling can also be customized easily. Add Parmesan for extra savory flavor, red pepper flakes for heat, or fresh parsley for a brighter finish. Whether served warm as an appetizer or alongside a larger meal, these stuffed mushrooms are always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

For approximately 20 stuffed mushrooms, you will need:

  • 20 medium white or cremini mushrooms

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley

  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

  • Additional Parmesan or parsley for garnish, optional

Step 1: Prepare the Mushrooms

Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Gently wipe the mushrooms clean with a damp paper towel. Avoid soaking them in water because mushrooms can absorb moisture, which may prevent them from roasting properly.

Carefully remove the stems from each mushroom cap. You can usually do this by gently twisting the stem until it comes loose.

Place the mushroom caps on a baking sheet or in a lightly greased baking dish with the hollow side facing upward.

If the mushroom stems are clean and firm, don't throw them away. Chop them finely and save them for the filling.

Step 2: Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling

Place the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl.

Add the minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

If you saved the mushroom stems, finely chop them and add them to the mixture as well.

Stir everything together until the ingredients are evenly incorporated and the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.

Using softened cream cheese is important here because it makes mixing much easier and creates a smoother filling.

Step 3: Fill the Mushroom Caps

Using a small spoon, scoop some of the cream cheese mixture into each mushroom cap.

Fill the mushrooms generously, slightly mounding the mixture above the top of each cap. Don't worry if the filling looks abundant; it will soften and settle slightly as the mushrooms bake.

Arrange the stuffed mushrooms in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Try to leave a little space between each mushroom so that heat can circulate around them.
