Crock Pot Apple Dumplings
Crock Pot Apple Dumplings
There is something wonderfully comforting about warm apples slowly cooked with cinnamon, butter, and a sweet sauce. These Crock Pot Apple Dumplings take that classic combination and turn it into an easy dessert that practically cooks itself. Tender apples are wrapped in soft, buttery dough, then slowly cooked until the fruit becomes tender and the surrounding sauce turns rich, sweet, and fragrant.
This recipe is especially convenient when you want a homemade dessert without spending hours in the kitchen. The slow cooker gently cooks everything together, allowing the apples to absorb the cinnamon-spiced sauce while the dumpling wrappers become soft and tender.
Why You’ll Love These Apple Dumplings
These dumplings are perfect for busy days because most of the preparation happens before the slow cooker does the work. The result is a dessert that feels homemade and special without requiring complicated baking techniques.

Ingredients
For the apple dumplings, you’ll need:
4 medium apples, preferably Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or another firm variety
1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup lemon-lime soda, such as Sprite
1 tablespoon lemon juice
A small pinch of salt
For serving:
Vanilla ice cream
Extra cinnamon, if desired
Caramel sauce, optional
Step 1: Prepare the Apples
Begin by washing and drying the apples thoroughly. Peel each apple, then cut it into quarters and remove the cores and seeds.
For larger apples, you can cut each quarter into smaller sections if necessary. The goal is to create pieces that can be comfortably wrapped in the crescent dough.
A firm apple works best because it holds its shape during the slow cooking process. Granny Smith apples are particularly good because their natural tartness balances the sweetness of the sauce.
Once the apples are prepared, lightly toss them with the lemon juice. This adds a subtle brightness and helps prevent the cut apples from browning while you prepare the remaining ingredients.
Step 2: Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture
In a medium bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Stir everything together until the spices are evenly distributed throughout the sugars.
The brown sugar gives the sauce a deeper caramel-like flavor, while cinnamon and nutmeg provide the warm spice that makes these dumplings taste so comforting.
Set the mixture aside for a moment.
Step 3: Prepare the Crescent Dough
Open the refrigerated crescent roll dough and carefully separate it into triangles.
If the dough has perforations, gently separate the pieces along those lines. Try not to stretch the dough too thin because you want each apple piece to have enough dough surrounding it.
Take one apple section and place it toward the wide end of a crescent dough triangle.
Starting at the wide end, carefully roll the dough around the apple. Continue rolling until the apple is completely enclosed.
Place the wrapped apple seam-side down while you prepare the remaining dumplings.
Repeat the process until all of the apple pieces have been wrapped.
