Jalapeño Cream Cheese Dip
Jalapeño Cream Cheese Dip
If you love creamy appetizers with a little kick, Jalapeño Cream Cheese Dip is an easy recipe to keep in your back pocket. It combines smooth, tangy cream cheese with spicy jalapeños, melty cheese, and a few simple seasonings to create a warm, scoopable dip that's perfect for parties, game nights, family gatherings, or casual snacking.
The best part is how simple it is to prepare. The cream cheese creates a rich and velvety base, while the jalapeños add freshness and heat. A layer of melted cheese on top gives the dip a golden, irresistible finish.
Ingredients
8 ounces (225 g) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3–4 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup additional shredded cheese for topping
For serving:
Tortilla chips
Crackers
Toasted baguette slices
Fresh vegetables such as carrots, celery, and bell peppers
Step 1: Prepare the Jalapeños
Begin by washing the jalapeños and removing the stems. If you prefer a milder dip, slice the peppers lengthwise and remove the seeds and inner membranes. For a noticeably spicier dip, leave some or all of the membranes intact.
Finely chop the jalapeños so that they distribute evenly throughout the dip. This prevents one bite from being overwhelmingly spicy while another has almost no jalapeño flavor.
If you're particularly sensitive to spicy peppers, wearing gloves while handling the jalapeños can make cleanup easier and prevent accidental irritation.
Step 2: Soften the Cream Cheese
Place the softened cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Allowing the cream cheese to come close to room temperature is important because it makes mixing much easier.
Add the mayonnaise and sour cream. Beat the mixture with a hand mixer or stir vigorously with a sturdy spatula until it becomes smooth and creamy.
The goal is to eliminate large lumps of cream cheese before adding the remaining ingredients.
Step 3: Add the Cheese and Seasonings
Add 1 cup of shredded Monterey Jack cheese and 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the cream cheese mixture.
Next, add the chopped jalapeños, minced garlic, and green onions. Sprinkle in the onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Stir everything together until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
At this stage, the mixture should be thick and creamy, with small pieces of jalapeño and green onion visible throughout.
