Buttermilk Pie

 


Ingredients (Makes 8 servings):

3 eggs

1 ½ cups white sugar

½ cup softened butter

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup buttermilk

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

⅛ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust

Instructions:

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Step 2

Beat eggs until frothy, then add sugar, butter, and flour, continuing to beat until smooth.

Step 3

Stir in buttermilk, lemon juice, vanilla, and nutmeg. Pour the mixture into the pie shell.

Step 4

Bake until the center is firm, typically taking 40 to 60 minutes.

Step 5

Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for 1 hour before serving.
