  • Carefully add the butter to the caramelized sugar, stirring continuously until the butter is completely melted and incorporated into the mixture.
  • Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring constantly. The mixture will bubble vigorously, so be cautious to avoid splatters.
  • Once all the cream has been added, continue to cook the mixture for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until it has thickened slightly.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt. Allow the caramel sauce to cool to room temperature.
  • Once the caramel sauce has cooled, transfer it to a mixing bowl and gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, beating with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
  • If the frosting is too thick, you can thin it out with a little milk or cream, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
