Old Fashioned Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

 


Ingredients:


4 slices of bread


1 cup milk


4 eggs


1 cup sugar


1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


1 teaspoon vanilla extract


1 teaspoon ground nutmeg


1 teaspoon salt


1 cup raisins


1/3 cup slivered almonds


Instructions:


Preheat the oven to 360°F (180°C).


Grease a baking pan with caramel or butter.


Cut the bread into squares and soak in the milk.


While the bread is soaking, beat the eggs with sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, and nutmeg.


Combine the soaked bread with the egg mixture, then fold in the raisins and almonds.


Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.


Bake for about one hour, until the pudding is set. To check for doneness, insert a knife into the center; if it comes out clean, the pudding is done.
