Crispy Homemade Egg Rolls

Golden on the outside, savory and tender on the inside—these homemade egg rolls are a delicious blend of fresh veggies and optional protein, wrapped up in a crunchy shell. Ideal as a party appetizer or a satisfying snack!


Ingredients

Yields about 12 egg rolls

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (or use prepackaged coleslaw mix)

  • 1 cup grated carrots

  • ½ cup bean sprouts (optional)

  • ½ cup finely diced mushrooms

  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce or hoisin sauce

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • ½ pound ground pork, chicken, or shrimp (optional for a meat version)

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for sautéing)

For Wrapping & Cooking:

  • 12 spring roll or egg roll wrappers

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (to seal edges)

  • Vegetable oil for frying (deep or shallow)
