Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, milk, cracker crumbs, salt, pepper, and chopped onion. Mix well.

  2. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place on a dish or tray. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

  3. The next day, slice the chilled loaf into ½-inch thick pieces or form into patties.

  4. Lightly dredge each slice in flour.

  5. Heat a skillet over medium-high and pan-fry the patties until browned on both sides.

  6. Transfer to a baking dish.

  7. In a separate bowl, whisk the mushroom soup with the water or broth until smooth.

  8. Pour the mixture over the beef slices in the baking dish.

  9. Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour, or until bubbly and the gravy has thickened.

  10. Serve warm with your favorite sides—and don’t forget extra gravy on top!
