Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare Your Dish
Line an 8x8 or 9x9 pan with parchment paper or lightly butter it to prevent sticking.
2. Heat the Base
In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, evaporated milk, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
3. Boil for Exactly 5 Minutes
Once boiling, continue stirring and let the mixture cook for 5 full minutes. This is the key to getting the perfect fudge texture.
4. Add Chocolate & Marshmallows
Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips and marshmallows (or marshmallow crème). Mix until everything melts into a smooth, glossy fudge.
5. Add Vanilla & Extras
Stir in the vanilla extract. If using nuts or other mix-ins, fold them in now.
6. Pour & Set
Pour the fudge mixture into your prepared pan and spread it evenly. Allow it to cool at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
7. Slice & Enjoy
Cut into squares and serve. Try not to eat them all at once!
