How to Make Cheesy Seafood Bake with Shrimp & Crab
1. Prepare the Creamy Base
Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant—do not brown it.
Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream and cream cheese. Whisk gently until smooth and creamy.
2. Build the Flavor
Add lemon juice, paprika, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning. The sauce should be rich but balanced, with a subtle brightness from the lemon.
3. Add the Cheese
Remove the pan from heat and stir in half of the mozzarella and half of the Parmesan (or Gruyère). This keeps the sauce smooth and prevents separation.
4. Fold in the Seafood
Gently fold in the shrimp and crab meat, taking care not to break up the crab too much. The seafood will finish cooking in the oven, so avoid overmixing.
5. Assemble and Bake
Transfer the mixture to a lightly buttered baking dish or individual ramekins. Sprinkle the remaining cheese evenly over the top.
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and lightly golden. For a deeper crust, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end—watch closely.
6. Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with fresh chives or parsley before serving.
