Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings Recipe

INSTRUCTIONS:

    • 1st Step – In the crock pot, combine the chicken broth, diced carrots, diced celery, diced onion, minced garlic, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
    • 2nd Step – Add the chicken breasts or thighs to the crock pot, ensuring they are submerged in the broth mixture.
    • 3rd Step – Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
    • 4th Step – If using, add the frozen peas and heavy cream to the crock pot during the last 30 minutes of cooking, stirring to combine.
    • 5th Step – In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the milk, stirring until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
    • 6th Step – Once the chicken is cooked and the vegetables are tender, remove the cooked chicken from the crock pot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the crock pot and stir to combine with the vegetables and broth.
    • 7th Step – Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough onto the surface of the chicken stew in the crock pot, spacing them evenly.
    • 8th Step – Cover the crock pot and cook on high for 1-1 1/2 hours, or until the dumplings are cooked through and fluffy.
    • 9th Step – Ladle the warm and comforting Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings into bowls and serve immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
    • 10th Step – Enjoy the hearty and satisfying flavors of this classic comfort food dish with your family and friends.
