Savory Bliss: Ham and Cheese Pinwheels Recipe

 



INSTRUCTIONS:

1st Step – Prepare the Puff Pastry:


  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

2nd Step – Assemble the Pinwheels:


  • Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard evenly over the puff pastry sheet.
  • Arrange the slices of ham evenly over the mustard.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the ham slices, covering the surface evenly.


3rd Step – Roll and Slice:

  • Starting from one long edge, tightly roll up the puff pastry into a log, like a jellyroll.
  • Once rolled, slice the log into 1/2-inch thick pinwheels using a sharp knife. You should get about 12 pinwheels.

4th Step – Bake:

  • Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart to allow for expansion.
  • Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown.



5th Step –
Serve:

  • Once baked, remove the pinwheels from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired.
