Method:
Prepare the Ribs:
- If the ribs have a tough membrane on the back, remove it by sliding a knife under the membrane and pulling it off with a paper towel for better flavor absorption.
- Season the ribs generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
Cook the Ribs:
Grilling Method:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 300-325°F or 150-160°C).
- Brush the ribs with olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Place the ribs on the grill and cook for about 2-3 hours, turning occasionally, until the meat is tender and cooked through. Use indirect heat for best results, keeping the lid closed as much as possible to retain heat and smoke.
Oven Method:
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Place the seasoned ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 2-2.5 hours, or until the ribs are tender and easily pull away from the bone.
Make the Honey Garlic Glaze:
- In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger (if using), vinegar, sesame oil (if using), red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes glossy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
Glaze the Ribs:
- If grilling: During the last 15-20 minutes of cooking, brush the ribs generously with the honey garlic glaze, turning and brushing occasionally to build up a sticky coating.
- If baking: Remove the ribs from the oven and brush them with the honey garlic glaze. Return them to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize.
Serve and Enjoy:
- Transfer the glazed ribs to a cutting board and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Cut the ribs between the bones into individual portions.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
- Serve the Ribs with Honey Garlic hot, accompanied by your favorite sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or grilled vegetables.
